　　　　　社會科學的研究，主要有實證、解釋與批判三種途徑。一致觀、互動觀與衝突觀的犯罪論，分別與之相對應。就研究方法而言，實證途待偏重量的研究；解釋與批判途徑偏重質的研究。了解犯罪論與研究方法的基本觀點之歧異，或許犯罪學研究所充斥的不確定、基至對立矛盾的結論，在某種程度上是可以被接受。然而，傳統英美及我國犯罪學研究、偏重量的方法，這種方法的基本假設、相關解釋、因果推論、研究設計、邏輯思維、統計方法等基本觀念方面，有其侷限性，也充滿很多似是而非的論點與謬誤，如果不設法澄清，就不可能深入而妥適的研究犯罪學。在電腦套裝統計軟體充斥之際，本文認為犯罪學研究擁能博大精深，乃應回歸基本面，重視犯罪學知識論、方法論，以及研究方法基本觀念的深入探討與掌握。
