In this paper, the recognition memory for visual icons is studied. The factors of complexity, stimulation, icon characteristics, location and arrangement of icons, sex, and number of memory elements are considered. There are 14 sets of samples used in two stages of psychological experiments. Each tested user finishes the experiment within 3 minutes and 44 seconds. These data are then analyzed by SPSS software. Experimental results show that the memory capacity and accuracy decrease as the number of samples increase. The identification of memory is affected by interferences in the second stage. Sex is not an important factor in this problem. On the other hand, location and arrangement are important. Icons with surface type are easier to recognize than those with line type. Similarity of icon is disadvantageous, but low level of complexity is advantageous to recognition memory.
