This paper combines the views from the Influence Theory of Harold Bloom (1930-) of the American School of Deconstruction, and the theory of Wang Guowei (1877-1927) to examine the literary achievements of Wang's Ren Jian Ci (Poetry of Humanity). In his ambition to become a great poet, Wang purposefully misread works by his precursors in order to construct the core content of his endless pursuit for the ideal state in creativity and in life. By imposing new context to the reading of previous works, primarily those from the Five Dynasties and Northern Sung, the found a new path to creativity. According to Bloom's Daemonization point of view, this would be Wang's attempt to seek inspiration from his predecessors and to transcend them. As such, Wang's theory of poetry is also a defense of his creative style.
