This study attempted to develop and verify the reliability and validity of “Scale of Exercise Social Support for College Students”. The framework of the Scale of Exercise Social Support was based on Caplan's (1974) and Oh’s (2005) Social Support theory. Also, this scale was developed from Argyle's (1992) and Iwasaki and Mannell's (2000) theoretical structure of social support for leisure activities. Purpose sampling and quota sampling were applied to selected students from National Peng-Hu University. A total of 948 valid questionnaires were distributed to students. Item Analysis, Exploratory Factor Analysis, Confirmatory Factor Analysis, Reliability and Validity test, and Cross-Validation were implemented. The results indicated that the exercise social support model had suitable model fitness after the exercise social support model was modified. Observed variables and other factors included ‘Emotion Support', ‘Esteem Support’ and ‘Information Support' had good reliability and validity. Furthermore, the exercise social support model had good cross validation after the exercise social support model was verified by the cross validation test.
