Since 1978, China has based its reform on the “One Core, Two Basic Points”--economic construction is the core, holding on the four principles, and holding on the implementation of reform and open policy-- route to the national development. China has not only adapted the theories of the national development, but also introduced the market mechanism to develop comprehensively the economy. Over the past three decades, the success of the China’s economic development cannot be ignored by the whole world, and China has changed its national security policy mainly toward the economic development. Due to its economic power rising continually, “China Threat Theory” is also rising. Therefore, China has to show more of its kindness and responsibility to the international society for keeping the stability in its neighborhood environment, and to expand its influence with economic cooperation and good-neighborliness that will be its first priority. The wave of globalization leads to another wave of Asia-Pacific regional integration which is based on the China market. Taiwan must depend on the deliberated planning if it wants to cope with this trend. This paper tries to explore the regional integration theories, the relations between China’s economic development and Asia-Pacific regional integration, and Taiwan’s prospective in the integration.
