Lakoff-Johnson theory reveals that metaphors are thinking mode of humanity. And the essence of metaphor is understanding and experiencing one kind of thing or experience in terms of another. Though linguistic expression usually contains not just one single conceptual metaphor, but many—but those different conceptual metaphors may serve for the same target. So, Lakoff— Turner offer the principle “A Global Metaphorical Reading "to show that lots of conceptual metaphors in the literary works usually map onto the same target domain. This article applies the principle to explore the dream in Ci poetry in Huangzhou of Su Shi. With close reading of each poem, this paper discusses not only main conceptual metaphor in the poem but also the conformity of different conceptual metaphors.
