Su Shi (1036-1101), also named Zi Zhan, was He Zhong, and Dongpo Jushi. He has gifted competence in poetry, articles, words, books and painting. However, as an outstanding poet in Song Dynasty, Su Shi is unfortunate in his life. How does he keep firm when he faces so many difficulties and frustration? From Su Shi's Yongmei poems, this study attempts to explore the attitudes and methods of Su Shi's life settlement when he encounters all kinds of dilemmas. In the poems, the attitudes about settling down life can be found. They can be summed up as follows, first, draw sustenance from plum blossoms. Second, be loyal to himself as spirit of plum blossoms. Third, be affectionate towards friends. Life is more valuable because of the frustration and difficulties. Su Shi understands the truth of life and knows how to face the dilemmas and settle down his life. It is worthwhile to learn from Su Shi's life experience.
