Tsuei Shu (1740-1816) was a lonely historian in Ching Dynasty, and the most famous of his works was "Kau Chin Lu", which he ispected historial events in Chinese ancient time. He respected Confucianism and their classics, but, when he found the classics was misunderstood, he decided to clear them. He spent almost 30 years to write this book. He analyzed the content of many ancient documents, appointed their mistakes, and researched the real facts of ancient history. Because he doubted dosuments too much, his viewpoints could not received by Ching's scholars. Therefore, this book had been neglected for hundred years. Until 1920s, Tsuei Shu's textual research was revalued, and "Kau Chin Lu" became the famous book which many scholars were eager to read. In fact, the demonstaction of Tsuei Shu is not correct completely for his subjective judgement, and the content of this book is still controversial. Although his study has some faults, his spirit of working with perseverance and daring to doubt authoritative statements is the model for later historical learners.
