Historically, the campus planning for the recovery of elementary schools in 921 Quake area, has reached its turning point in Taiwan. In hoping of suggesting a new direction for the future, the present study takes 23 elementary schools as an subject and analyzes the rational concepts of campus reconstruction. First of all, the author analyzes the way campus construction implements the various concepts of open education in order to meet the educational reform. In addition, drawing implication from the references on “campus-reconstruction campaign” and practical school site visits, the author discusses some ideas, school like the idea of localization, the manifold open space, class grouping, school community, the design of sloped roofs, and the athletic ground, participation in common, classroom families are the criteria for analyzes the construction and planning of the campus rebuilding. And the author discovers that school community is an important campus construction tendency, campus planning is in line with the educational reform, participating at planning in common, showing the learning environment of localize culture, reconsidering the necessity of athletic ground, providing a sense of “house” and living function. Finally, the author obtains some revelations from this chapter, such as schools must have long-term and integrated planning, the nucleus value should be established and school culture should be remolded.
