The study of Book of Change during the Pre-Qin period of Chinese history was where the true spirit lies. The historical document of the Book of Change of the Pre-Qin period that has been reserved was mainly at the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods. There were two major schools at the later stage study of the Book of Change. No matter the study of the Book of Change was the divination school or the rationalism school both were invariably started from the same period. It was not changed until later when Confucius’s Commentary of I-Ching put the Book of Change from the viewpoint of divination to the realization of philosophy. This paper intends to investigate the general idea of the study of Book of Change during the Pre-Qin period from the viewpoint of the divination, the Commentary of I-Ching and Rationalism three aspects.
