"The Eternal Palace", composing by Sheng Hung (1645-1704), has been affirmed unanimously as a model work of the species in Chinese classical drama, Chuanchi in Ming & Ching dynasties, and achieved the greatest accomplishment in aspects of drama & theater. Most important of all, it demonstrated the corresponding rules, or formulae, between the songset & the event, action, or sentiment in every chu(act). Authoritative studies have been made by extraordinary scholars, such as Ji-lie Wang, Yong-I Tseng. On the basis of these studies, by doing continuous & outstretched research, this thesis makes supplements & amendments on points including: 1. A more specific & detailed description of the standard to evaluate the arrangements of Paichang in the viewpoint of the completive script; 2. A more accurate inspection to the origins & genealogies of the formulated songsets submitted & commented in former studies; 3. To submit & make comments on the formulated songsets omitted in former studies; 4. Explanations for the inventive variations of the application of some special songsets; 5. Explanations for the reasons & principles of the correspondence between the alterations of events, actions, & alterations of Gungdiau (musical mode), tunes, rhymes, in certain acts.
