本研究以異文化理解‧尊重的立場，針對台灣人及日本人的女大學生進行訪談及問卷調查，探討台灣人及日本人在什麼樣的情況下會隱藏自己反對的意見，並分析歸納其原因。結果顯示「體恤對方的情緒」「對方的態度」「和對方的上下關係」「兩人今後的關係」等和「對方」相關的因素是最為兩國人重視的原因，這是因為考慮到對方的情緒及雙方今後的關係，而滿足對方的積極面子的結果。再者，當意見不同的對象是家人或好朋友時，都傾向訴說自己的意見，但台日兩國人在面對和自己不熟的人時比較不會表達自己的意見。

Based on the perspectives of cross-cultural understanding and mutual respect, the research subject of this study is through interview and questionnaires with Taiwanese and Japanese university female student to probe into they will hide their disagreement in what kind of situations. In the meantime, this study analyzed and concluded the reason.The results showed that ”other” relevant factors are the most important reasons for Taiwanese and Japanese, such as ”compassionate each other's emotions,” ”the other's attitude,” ” leader-member relationship,” ”mutually relationship in the future,” etc. This is arising out of taking into account each other's emotions, and mutually relationship, so they meet each other's positive face. Furthermore, both Taiwanese and Japanese tend to express their own opinions when they disagree with their family or friends. But when the objects are unfamiliar, they choose to hind their opinion.
