本文試圖從空間和地景的角度，探討聚落遷移和環境景觀的變動，如何在集體記憶中表現，以及如何在具體社會行動中回應。分佈在新竹和苗栗交界區的賽夏族，因為遷移和跨界互動影響，造成生活世界快速而巨大的變化。根據史料記載，賽夏聚落的分佈區域，過去曾長期夾處在不斷推進的漢番交界區。賽夏各姓氏的口語傳說，也經常從不同角度強調過去移動的路線和遷移歷史。但是，這一個人口數量極少的小族群，相對而言，卻在變動的生活領域中，建構和維持了相當強烈的集體意識和行動力。最近數十年間，雖然賽夏聚落地點的移動並不大，但生活領域內的環境景觀，卻正面臨另一波變化與衝擊。自 2000 年起，由於臺灣休閒風潮的興起和觀光產業發展政策的提出，使得原本山水秀麗的新竹和苗栗山區，突然轉變為熱門的觀光景點；偏遠的賽夏山區生活世界，開始朝著遊客浪漫想像的「花園山城」方向發展。如果空間和地景是行動者感知和建構生活經驗的基本舞臺，那麼聚落不斷的遷徙與地景的大幅變動，也將對地方社會的性質造成一些影響。本文透過賽夏的例子，希望能夠進一步探討空間與地景的動態意義，並思考社會建構過程中不斷交錯運作的變動和穩定力量。

Focusing on space and landscape, this paper aims to explore how the migration and dynamic spatial changes are represented in collective memories and responded to in social practices. As a small indigenous group in the hinterland of northwestern Taiwan, the Saisiyat 賽夏 had been moving along the shifting Chinese-Aboriginal borderlines from the 18th century to 20th century. In the oral narratives of Saisiyat clans, migrating and encountering others are constantly recited stories.
Other than the movement of settlements, the transformation of landscape has acted as the most influential force to change the Saisiyat life world since the 1990s. Due to the picturesque mountainous scenery of the Saisiyat territory, this area has become a very popular resort and leisure area in Taiwan. Within this area, increasing fancy guest houses, garden cafés, and other tourist facilities are established. The landscape of the indigenous dwelling places has been transformed into tourist attractions.
It is generally agreed that spatial factors objectify the temporal processes and construct a stage for human actors to perceive and shape living experiences. Thus, migration and transformation could be dangerous forces which cause the loss of linkages with past social relations and collective memories. From the case of Saisiyat, this paper diachronically analyzes the social mobility and stability mediated under the transformation of the spatial-temporal framework.
