生活世界是胡塞爾後期現象學的重要概念之一；地理學者運用現象學的理念從事地理現象的研究時，自是特重生活世界的概念。經由地理文獻的回顧，可發現大部分有關生活世界概念的論著，大抵上只了解到生活世界概念的表面意義，以及試圖直接運用它於地理現象的研究，卻往往忽略生活世界概念於胡塞爾整體現象學中的義蘊。 本文首先回顧地理學論著中的生活世界概念；爾後，進一步討論胡塞爾自己對生活世界所做的闡釋。並由此起始點，討論胡塞爾與海德格的描述的現象學，以此作為經驗科學之人文地理學的存在論分析之依據，最後論述建立一門奠基於生活世界之人文地理學的可行性。

The lifeworld is one of the most important ideas in Husserl's later phenomenology. Geographers have found the term ‘lifeworld’ to be very attractive but paid little attention to its precise meaning in all of Husser's phenomenology. Although many geographers have used the idea of lifeworld in order to replace the approach of positivism in human geography, its role is not at all clear, and caused much confusion surrounding the practical dimension of the idea. This paper will broadly discuss the ideas of lifeworld found in geographic writings at first, and then makes investigations into the ontology of lifeworld which is explained and elucidated by Husserl himself in his last book, Crisis. At least, this paper will further turn to the methods of descriptive phenomenology offered by Husserl and Heidegger, and focuses on the establishment of a human geography based on the idea of lifeworld.
