由於校長的思考會影響其如何處理問題（Hallinger, Murphy, & Leithwood, 1993;Leithwood & Steinbach, 1993），面對同樣的問題，不同校長的理解與思考不同，其處理問題的方式也可能會不相同。因此，探討校長思考的內涵，以及如何加強校長領導理論與實際作為之關聯、減低校長言行之落差，以及重新建構校長的思考等主題，相當重要。
