即使《冊府元龜》幾乎在每一座現代研究圖書館的參考書區中皆隨手可得，它的實用性本身其實是一個極需進行歷史重建與歷史脈絡化的理解對象。回到十一世紀的宋代朝廷與文化環境裡，《冊府元龜》的製作及其意義為何？編纂者們要從何處著手？以何種方法進行實際操作？以及到底要如何生產出一本具備政治─倫理指示價值的文本產品？本文一開始探索北宋政府在編輯大書時的命名邏輯，以及「冊府元龜」一詞所可能隱含的神話意涵，或者說是歷史介體的本體論支持基礎；接著描繪文本產物《冊府元龜》之型狀，它是一個巨大的歷史知識體，以「部─門」兩重結構進而展開的高度精細分類系統為骨架，基於典型性原則，將經世治國之繁多事例予以概念化。其編纂過程中如何處理被繼受文本的問題，大致可以歸納出五個程序。最後，本文結論認為《冊府元龜》的確是一個巨大的歷史類推的寶庫，所蒐集之歷史前例並非隨意放置，而是經由分類安置，使個別的故事　提升至特定範疇例證的地位，在範疇層次上該故事具備了示範意味或仿效潛能。

Although ＂Cefu yuangui＂ is well-known among modern scholars, its practicality and usefulness requires serious historical reconstruction and contextualization. This article first discusses the naming logic of the Song Great Books in order to shed light on the possible implications of the title ＂Cefu yuangui＂ and its ontological underpinning of historical agency. What follows is an analytical depiction of the shape and fabric of the text as a huge body of historical knowledge framed by an elaborate taxonomy of the bu/men dyadic structure. Statecraft is conceptualized on the principle of typicality. Moreover, five procedures can be retrospectively constructed concerning the historiographical operation of ＂Cefu yuangui＂. Lastly, in conclusion this article argues that ＂Cefu yuangui＂ is indeed a precious inventory of historical analogism, but it does not simply scatter around raw historical precedents. With its taxonomic framework, ＂Cefu yuangui＂ narrates stories no longer as simply stories but elevates stories to be exemplars of a modeling or paradigmatic category.
