　　　　　二十年前的屏南村是一同質性很高的的稻作農業經濟農村。隨著臺灣工商業的發展，農村經濟活動的異質化也就日趨顯著。本文以1992-94年研究期間收集的一百戶問卷和深入訪問的資料來分析和討論屏南村經濟異質化的過程。首先依戶長夫婦兩人的職業把一百戶分成專業農戶、兼業農戶及非農戶三類。我們發現到專業農戶有五十二戶，其餘兩類各有二十四戶。但若把村內現佳人口的職業加以統計，非農業就業人口卻多於農業就業人口。其次則探討異質化形成的原因、結果及影響，譬如政府的農工商政策、農業人口結構的老化，婦女的經濟角色、利潤的追求、回鄉移民的就業和創業等等。
　　　　　Pinnan Village was a very homogeneous rice farming village in Southern Taiwan when the author did his first fieldwork in 1971. However, economic differentiation has become very vivid because of industrial development in Taiwan today. In this article, the author divides one hundred house olds' data into full-time farming households, part-time farming households, and non-farming households based on the occupations of both male and female household heads. Although there are 52 full-time farming households, the total number of agricultural workers in the village is less than nonagricultural workers. After a description of various economic activities in each category, the author tries to analyze the causes and effects of this economic differentiation, such as the government's agricultural and industrial policies, the aging of the agricultural population, the role of gender, and the impact of returning migrants.
