Da-Chia Junior High School's Handball team is the most famous and representative team in Taiwan. The purpose of the study was to discuss the management of the team as well as the students' sub-culture and the adapting situation in their school. The subjects of the study were the qualification coach, Mr. Duh Jeng-Dah, incumbent executing coach, Mr. Li Yuan-Ping, and twenty-two team students. Two questionnaires named: "Handball Team Student's Sub-culture Questionnaire of Da-Chia Hunior High" and "The interview outline of students' adapting situation of handball team at Da-Chia Junior High School" were used as the research implements. Interview, documents analysis, and questionnaire were used as data collection methods. All gathered data was analyzed and discussed by descriptive profile. The results are induced as follows: A. The management of the handball team Mr. Duh Jeng-ah established Da-Chia Junior High School's handball team in 1972 and had won champions over hundred times. In 1997, the handball team won the champion of Italy international handball competition. After that, they went on the campaigns and brought the friendship competition around the Europe by which a good model of citizen diplomacy had been developed. On the other hand, Mr. Duh had done abounding papers about handball training and edited the Journal titled "Ta-Chia handball". He also established the handball museum, setting up the private dormitory to manage students and asking students to remain on a good moral conduct. For long-term managing the handball team, Mr. Duh asked himself to select "Da-Chia high school as students' further education station, to supervise students "studying hard and preparing for higher education" and "doing as much as one can do for bringing no shame to oneself". As following those disciplines, Mr. Duh had successfully made Da-Chia becoming the cradle and presentation of handball. B. The present situation of students' sub-culture The attitude toward to school joining sports actives, evaluation to sports team presented to active and positive. The behavior of fellowship presented more regards on physical actives than academic works. Team students' favorite academic subjects were Physical Education; the disliked subjects were Mathematics. The first goal they had set during the Junior High level was to "study hard for enrolling into the first aspiration school". As to the valuation of attending to handball team, students were hoping to improve physical health status. In the contents of leisure actives, the most leisure active they attended was chatting; the most expected leisure active was camping. C. School adaptation of the students The members always feel tired and feel great pressure about their studies. However, students known that they have to face the recommended exam in the near future, so that it is impossible for them to give up their academic works. As a result, the thought of selecting a good university by playing handball well was the stimulus to support them to continue their training course. This though also had been turned into students' current self-expectation. Besides, students' interaction between people was satisfied. They also agreed that their attitude, behavior were better than other students. The students also plan to get the bachelor degree after graduating from senior high and to be the PE teachers or coaches.
