This study aims to examine the effect on student career development in a general education by the project "Great HD, Great Future: building up my golden decade" (hereforth called golden decade). A qualitative research methodology was used to analyze student's assignments and a teaching evaluation survey at the end of the semester. It is found that through HD instruction, the "golden decade" project and its related teaching activities have helped the students’ goal-setting for future career and competitive capacities. It is suggested that to maximize the benefit of "golden decade" project, some preliminary orientation is needed, including student aptitude test and other relevant theories of career planning.
