As the leader of New Rhetoric since the end of 1920s, and an eccentric scholar in the field of thought in America, Kenneth Burke had always been widely known for his miscellaneous works and his intricate, obscure language. Although his works involve many fields, the studies concerning Burke mostly concentrate on his rhetorical research, thereby neglecting other issues including his influence on other academic fields. This essay, which is based on Hayden White's several works, will examine Burke's effect on White and discuss the source of White's works, attempting to comprehend Burke on an "Other" perspective.
