本研究的目的在以自我效能理論的觀點，探討性別因素、興趣、能力等變項對高一學生選擇職業方向與範圍的影響。根據一百九十名高一學生在『職業與我』、『個人特質量表』及『高中系列學業性向測驗』三種研究工具上的反應，經變異數分析及迴歸分析之統計處理後，發現：(1) 性別及性別角色取向對樣本考慮職業方向與範圍上有顯著的影響，性別變項對男性與女性職業的預測力分別為.209，.180；性別角色取向則可各增加約.031及.021 的預測力；(2) 數學性向及樣本對男性職業的興趣二者對選擇男性職業亦具相當的預測作用，各約.016及.069；(3) 職業自我效能變項可能因受其他變項的抑制而未能有效預測樣本對男性職業方面的選擇，但自我效能對女性職業方面的選擇則呈負向的預測作用。
研究者根據各項研究發現，分別就自我效能的概念與評量，性別因素在輔導高一學生上應加注意的問題等，提出三項建議以供未來研究者及輔導人員參考。

The major purpose of the present study was to investigate the relationship of career self-efficacy expectations to the selection of 12 traditionally male and 12 traditionally female occupations. Subjects, 93 male and 97 female senior high school freshman students, completed the Career and I questionnaire, the Revised Bem Sex Role Inventory, and the Scholastic Aptitute Tests. Results indicated significant and consistent sex differences in self-efficacy expectations with regard to the selection of traditional versus non-traditional occupations. Further, math aptitute and interest toward traditionally male occupations were also related to the number of occupations considered by the subjects. Implications for further investigations of the concept of self-efficacy as well as sex role variables in career counseling are discussed.
