The 21st century is a time of information and leisure. Since the beginning of the two work-free days a week in 2002, over half of this country’s inhabitants have been engaged in domestic tourism. Yangminshan and the northern coast are famous resorts in the suburbs of Taipei City. They are always populated with tourists on holidays. Tourism and recreation industries have consequently sprouted everywhere; their interaction with tourists and local residents has intrigued my interest and inspired this research.
This research discovers that recreational activity is the stretch of “line” in terms of space and the pause of spots that alter through time. The recreational industry is a congregation of recreational activities. Restaurants, hotels, resort clubs, delis, vendors and others are presented in space, which demonstrate diverse models in density, scale and function. The various industries become three-dimensional and above perception to tourists. Their recreational behaviors correspond with the landscape evaluation. Thus, the fluctuant relationship between recreational activities and industries is known and formed by, other than tourists’ perception, the coordination of the recreational industry itself along with investment policy. Furthermore, it creates different landscapes of recreational resource and tourism recreation industry. From the earth and humans’ viewpoints, local residents show environmental shock at the difference between cities and the countryside in perspective of recreational activities and industries.
