　　　　　在本論文中，作者以其(人情與面子)的理論模式為例，說明他如何從符號互動論的概念出發，綜合社會交易論和正義理論的主要概念，建構出該一理論模式。作者指出:他這樣做的時候，已經在方法論上作了一項典範的轉移，由主觀研究途徑，移轉到客觀研究途徑。他以(人情與面子)的理論模式為基礎，分析儒家思想的內在結構和法家思想的形式結構時，是使用釋義典範;而心理學中有關「心理/社會發展」、「道德發展」、及「正義觀之發展」的理論，莫不建立在批判性或辯證性的「否定哲學」之上。根據這樣的析論，作者主張:從事本土社會心理學研究，最重要的是要有問題意識，能夠找到個人認為值得投注畢生精力，戮力以赴的重大問題，從事研究。至於在研究方法上，則應當採取「多元典範的觀點」，視問題性質的不同，採用不同的研究典範，務期對問題能夠獲致一種「由不同世界觀源生出來的全面性瞭解」。如果執著於「實證研究方法」，依附在西方心理學的主流之下，從西方心理學理論中導衍出一些假設，不斷從事「假設驗證」的工作，則難免墮入「科學主義」或「形式主義」的陷阱，而難以發展出真正的「本士心理學」。
