　　　　　在社會迅速變遷之下，遷入安養機構走臺灣地區部份老年人之重要抉擇之一。 然而，從老年人之觀點，如此抉擇之實際情況如何？老年人對居住於安養機構有何感受？ 產生這些感受之原因為何？本文根據作者在大臺北地區四所老人安養機構內之田野工作研 究，企圖回答這些問題。 老年人對於居住安養機構之感受錯綜複雜。本文就正面與負面之感受來加以討論，並 分析形成這些感受之主要原因。此外，在討論之中，本文特將強調中國文化中之老人理想 生活模式對居民感受所產生之影響。
　　　　　With rapid social change, living in an old age institution has become an important alternative of life-style for some older adults in Taiwan. However, there is a dearth of knowledge regarding the exact situations under which older adults "chose" such an alternative. We also know very little about how these older adults feel about living in such institutions and what makes them feel this way. This paper tries to answer these questions, based on a field study of two years in four old age institutions in Taipei. Our research indicates that older adults have extremely complicated feelings about living in old age institutions. We depict both their positive and negative feelings, and try to explain where these feelings come from. We also discuss how the ideal old-age life style in traditional Chinese culture impact upon feelings of these residents.
