     在鄒人社會實踐的歷史過程中,鄒人之集體知識及其文化理解,扮演主動積極 的角色。本研究通過鄒人的思考方式與社會生活、當代文化重構與族群意識、界限與脈絡 之鄒論述的闡釋,藉以理解鄒文化的原生與再生產之意義、鄒社會關係的運作特徵,以及 歷史、文化、個人與主體性之關係;說明文化形式的重構,促成社會整體發展的可能及其 基本的限制。由於鄒的社會文化、漢文化及其權力系統、與歷史因素三者的互動,使鄒文 化形式的重構,雖明顯化了文化差異所標誌出來的界限,卻又通過其被含攝在大社會中的 象徵與組織層面的互補關係,而使其得以超越部落主義。而這個層層相扣的中心與邊緣、 主幹與分支、內與外、原初與次生的脈絡性含攝關係,是鄒社會組成最重要的原則之一。 最後,本文提出:文化差異的特徵與維持界限的過程,產生自社會組織的面相;而具有關 係性與過程本質的文化政治與族群意識,雖為當代臺灣社會中普同的現象,但其如何呈現 卻是由既有的獨特社會文化來定義,在歷史因素的影響之下、通過文化中的個體來實踐。
     This article describes the Tsou's mode of thought and social life, including contemporary cultural reconstruction and ethnicity, and a discourse on boundaries. The study deals with the relationship between cultural reconstruction and social development, the meaning of original culture and cultural reproductions, and the nature of the social relationships of the Tsou; it also looks at the relationship between history, culture, the individual and subjectivity. The Tsou present the characteristics of the ' beyond tribalism' social practices in a specific mountainous territory. According to their social cultural categories, the state has become hosa (main tribe), Tsou land has become denohiyu (small sub-tribe); the place of the Tsou in the world has been transformed from taitso (centre) to faengu (periphery) , from peongu (trunk of a tree) to eh'ti (branch of a tree). The study suggests that although the reconstruction of the Tsou's cultural forms has manifested the boundary of cultural difference, it has moved 'beyond tribalism' through the manipulation of a complementary relationship between symbolic and organizational dimensions in Taiwanese society - predicated on the interaction of the Tsou social and cultural systems, the Han Chinese culture and its power structure, and historical foctors. The relational, processual and contextual encompass relationships of centre and periphery, of trunk and branch, of inside and outside, of original and dependent, of primary and secondary, of primeval and following, and are the most important principles of the Tsou social formation. The Tsou's notions of cultural differences and the processes of boundary maintenance arise from aspects of social organization. Thus the cultural politics and ethnic identity of the Tsou is relational and processual. Furthermore, although ethnic identity is a universal phenomenon of modern Taiwanese society, it is socially and culturally defined in a particular historical process.
