　　　　　從台灣當代前衛藝術家陳界仁的作品中，我們看到了藝術家透過視覺圖像進行對於「中國╱台灣」現代化進程的批判與詮釋。陳界仁在作品中挑選了幾個充分顯露現代化進程中體制性暴力的創傷性時間節點。中國現代化體制性的暴力展現於建立清潔與病態的區分，以及清除異己的工程，例如清黨、內戰。此清除異己的心態，便成為文化中普遍的恐懼症，恐懼不熟悉而非家的異質物。因此，這些暴力運作的時間節點更造成了歷史的斷裂，也就是政治結構轉變之後，歷史詮釋與歷史累積的斷裂。這種斷裂，實際上是透過知識系統與認知模式的體制性斷裂所完成。基於此體制性斷裂，中國╱台灣對於現代進程中諸種現象展現了詮釋的片面與認知的斷層，此斷層也同時造成了台灣的「當代」文化狀況。因此，面對台灣的「當代」，面對台灣的在地性（the local），觀察其中所鑲嵌的歷史斷裂與認知體系肢解的時刻，思考台灣的文化問題，展開精神分析式的對話，便是我此文所進行的工作。
