有從人們如何呈現自我、說明自我的過程中，探究權力與主體之間的關係。我們將自我視為人們在「社會關係」表達自我的動態實踐。自我既是經由權力所建構，也是透過行為、言談、參與和實踐，不斷建構的定位過程。也就是說，權力建構人們的主體性，規定人們的身份位置，此一身位位置給予人們對自我的認知、解釋世界的架構以及談論自己的方式。同時，自我也是持續建構與變動的定位過程，因此，自我定位除了自我對自我的認知，也包括禱的其他人對此位置的看法，是一種不交錯、纏繞，或確認、或重新修正的過程。
This paper explores the dialectic relationships between power and subjectivity through the examination of self-positioning and self-presentation of major agents in news events. Drawing form Foucault’s self-presentation of major agents in news events. Drawing from Foucault’s conception of power, this paper argues that the self is constructed through discursive discourses in everyday life as well as through continuing positioning process in social encounters. This paper thus suggests that whenever one is self-defining, one indeed is self-positioning, that is, creating, confirming and adjusting a specific social role for oneself.
