章學誠研究自從二十世紀二○年代日人內藤虎次郎及國人胡適相繼撰著年譜以後，便成為一種顯學。相關研究可以充棟、可以汗牛。章學誠的思想極為豐富及多元化，諸如史學、文學、方志學、目錄學，以至哲學等方面皆嘗展露其傑出的個人看法及慧解；對於學術界的貢獻及影響，吾人自不能小覷。學者對章學誠思想各方面的表現，可謂皆作過研究，其中探討其史學、方志學及目錄方面的著作尤夥；對章學誠在這些方面的貢獻及影響，亦恒作出論述或批判。然而，章氏貢獻的大小及影響的深淺，學者的意見相當不一致。本文乃旨在分析、論述資多學者的不同看法。此外，亦試圖對章氏的貢獻及影響提出一些個人的見解。

The Study on Zhang Xuecheng (1738-1801) was very active since the Japanese sinologist Naito Torajiro and the Chinese scholar Hu shi wrote the monograph respectively in 1920 and 1922 on the life of Zhang Xuecheng (in the form of chronological biography). Zhang Xuecheng has really made contribution and has exercised influence upon the later Chinese scholars in different academic fields, especially in the field of historiography, in the field of local gazette (fangzhi) and in the field of bibliography. However, researchers have quite different opinions as well as diverse judgments on Zhang’s contribution and influence in regard of the above mentioned fields. The article aims at: To discuss and analyze the different opinions and judgments of the different researchers; to pass a judgment myself on the contribution and influence of Zhang Xuecheng regarding the three above mentioned fields.
