This paper intends to adopt the new implications of Confucianism to explore how post-modern philosophical discussion on Confucianism is made in the past and today. It is further argued that Chinese philosophy is capable of conducting post-modern philosophical exposition. This paper starts form the studies on Confucianism, to investigate the transition in meaning based on two dimensions: “structure” and “deconstruction”. In other words, this paper tries to look into the changes and development of Confucianism from post-modern perspectives. Detail discussion and concepts include “the rectification of names” by Confucius, the differences between the thoughts of Mencius and Hsün Tzu, and the creative implications derived form their argumentation and type are also stated. Finally, from the understanding of the “Confucian ideal type”, the “ideal type” in post-modernism is synonymous with the Chinese concept “Tao” (the way). By doing so, the paper tries to illustrate the post-modern image of Chinese philosophy.
