The purpose of this study was to investigate the teaching quality, and to explore further regarding the differences between the students of various colleges/universities and various years on higher education. The data from Taiwan Higher Education Data System (2003 - 2005), the sample consisted of public colleges/universities and private colleges/universities were collected through mailed questionnaires. The results showed that instruction objective, teacher caring, and the evaluation of teacher and course were highly approved by students. But teaching skills and assessment of learning outcome were descended in recent years. There were significant differences between public colleges/universities and private colleges/universities on teaching quality, learning effective and the evaluation of teacher and course. The variable of teacher caring was significantly correlated with the evaluation of teacher and course, and was the main factor to predict the evaluation of teacher and course in the regression model. Based on the results of this study, this article tries to proposed several implications to improving the teaching quality of higher education in Taiwan.
