　　　　　死亡是人生命的構成因素、潛藏在生命的每一點滴之內、如同心跳或呼吸一般地叫人習以為常、以致我可以透過逆覺反思而在我生命中任何一個活動內挖掘出死亡的蹤影。 包羅斯就以這洞察作為理論根據、而引用超驗法來剖析死亡一剎那的內在境況。從超驗法的反思下，死亡被呈現為人一生之中的唯一的、徹底的、圓滿的行動；而人在生時的每一活動都只是它的預演，從中鍛鍊並預備人在死亡一剎那間作其淋漓盡緻的發揮，藉以對其一生作出總檢討、總負責、總收割，而他的總抉擇是整全地徹底、再沒有反悔的餘地。
