很少人注意路易斯‧卡洛爾的《愛麗絲漫遊奇境》故事結尾還有第二個夢。事實上,整本書從序詩到結尾形成了回聲形式的循環時空敘事,以現代混沌理論來看,接近於「勞倫茲吸子」的圖式。卡洛爾藉此建構了一個永恆的童年國度,並透過一個闖入這國度的理想兒童,造成一連串看似好玩實則意味深遠的的混亂(混沌),讓這永恆的童年國度形成能動性。
本文將探討《愛麗絲漫遊奇境》裡永恆與混沌並存的童年性,並以捷克超現實動畫大師斯凡克梅耶的真人偶動畫《愛麗絲》(Nĕco z Alenky, 1987)作比較。本文主張,斯氏的版本是最能傳達卡洛爾原著精髓的影視改編文本──唯一再現了卡洛爾原著中永恆與混沌並濟的敘事結構,而且它的劇情、角色、內容主旨比一般所認知的更忠實於原著。本文將從西方哲學思想脈絡(從柏拉圖、普羅提諾、聖奧古斯丁到波赫士)和現代的混沌科學,來分析兩人的時空敘事結構,也將從兒童文學的一些論辯和拉岡的精神分析結構,來比較兩人如何再現童年的各種特質,包括對成長的恐懼、主體意識的建立與自我認同、性慾、與成人的對話與協商等。
Few people recognize the second dream after Alice’s awakening in Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. The whole text, from the preface to the end, actually forms a circulating time/space narrative like an echo, or a “Lorenz attractor” paradigm from the viewpoint of modern chaos theory. Through it Carroll constructed Alice as a chaos boojum to make an eternal childhood dynamic.
This thesis will compare Carroll’s original versions of Alice with Jan Švankmajer’s adapting film Nĕco z Alenky to expose the eternal/chaos childhoodness in their works. This thesis argues that Švankmajer’s version is the best one to convey the essence of Carroll’s original texts. It is the only adapting version to recreate an eternal/chaos childhood with Möbius time/space narrative and its characterization and plot arrangement is truthful beyond consciousness. This thesis will trace the western tradition on eternality and chaos from Plato, Plotinus, Augustinus, and Borges to modern chaos theory. It will discuss as well the childhoodness within Carroll’s and Švankmajer’s Alice through Lacanian Psychoanalysis and some debates from children’s literature. Some issues including the fear to grow, child sexuality, subjective consciousness and the negotiation with adults will be discussed as well.
