This purpose of the present study was to explore the role of personality, cultural intelligence (CQ), cross-cultural adjustment, and its effect on work performance of foreign laborers. We also examined the moderating effect of mindfulness on the relationship among personality, cultural intelligence and cross-cultural adjustment. The data in this study used Structure Equation Models (SEM) analysis. A paper-based survey, with a return rate of 65.3%, was completed by 2,782 Thai laborers working in Taiwan’s manufacturing industries. The results showed that personality was positively related to CQ, cross-cultural adjustment and work performance of Thai laborers and related to mindfulness. In addition, we found that mindfulness partly moderated the relationship of personality, cultural intelligence, and cross-cultural adjustment. These finds suggested that CQ can serve as a predictor for cross-cultural effectiveness. Implications for practice and direction for future research are offered.
