The evolution of literary genres is a historical dialogue between mainstream genres and marginal genres. Influenced by the revival of ancient classics, the composition of the mainstream genres of traditional Chinese literature-poetry and prose-experienced a long-time prosperity, while the subsequently rising genres such as Fu, Ci, novel and ancient Chinese drama were criticized continuously for having not met the paradigm standard of mainstream genres and were kept to the status of marginal genres. The revival of ancient classics prolonged the process of the advance of traditional Chinese literature to new paradigms by cumbering the maturity of marginal genres.
