The older persons need long-term, continuous, plural and individual services in the long-term care institution. They also need the professional social work treatment. The roles, functions and jobs of social workers in the long-term care institution for older persons less regulated integrated and detailed in the rules of social welfare, the long-term care system and social work organizations in Taiwan. In order to provide social welfare services to the older persons and their relatives, and also maintain rights of the older persons, it is important to explore the role of social worker of work team in the long-term care institution for older persons. This article reviews the current rules of social welfare and norms of social work, explores the role of social workers in the long-term care institution for older persons by job analysis formula of human resource management. They include the conditions of qualifications and training, the bases of professional theory and ethical norms, the purposes of service, the tasks of jobs, work environment of social workers. This article uses managerial tool of service blueprint to present the roles and services of social workers in the long-term care institution for older persons. It tries to evaluate social workers need to strengthen and increase the jobs and services now. At last, when we build and implement the long-term care institution for older persons, it suggests that the long-term care institution enable to sound human resource system, make standards for social work services, use and improve human resources of social works by being require of rules, profession and evaluation. Then, social workers can provide high quality services to the older persons and their relatives in the long-term care institution.
