「夢見逝親」現象是常見的喪親後反應,許多夢見逝親的研究顯示此類夢境可以反映出喪親者的悲傷與哀悼任務進行狀態,特別是能促進生者與逝者的持續連結。近年西方悲傷治療理論強調生者與逝者持續連結的重要性,由相關的研究指出喪親者有多種持續連結的行為,夢見逝親為其中之一,且持續連結的行為對於喪親者的喪慟調適是否有助益乃是受到文化因素的影響。本文進而探討「夢見逝親」現象與文化信念,由華人的文化脈絡來看,喪親者多抱持「逝親入夢」的文化信念來解讀他們「夢見逝親」的現象,此乃受到中國文化中「生後世」靈知信念的影響,如:靈魂不滅、夢為冥陽兩界之中介空間、親亡關係持續牽繫轉化為祖先崇拜。而從事喪慟關懷與悲傷輔導的助人者有必要尊重喪親者在文化脈絡下形構的夢境解讀,善用西方心理治療的夢工作方法,更能有助於本土喪親者的喪慟調適。
Dreams of the deceased is a very popular phenomenon of bereavement. Many researches indicated that those dreams could reflect states of grief and mourning of the bereaved. Recently, theories of grief therapy emphasized the importance of continuing bonds between bereaved persons and their deceased. "Dreams of the deceased" is one way of continuing bonds. Besides, the perceptions of bereaved persons regarding continuing bonds are influenced by cultural background. In Chinese culture, most bereaved persons perceive "Dreams of the deceased" as a sign that the deceased appears in dreams of the bereaved. This perception is based on Chinese traditional afterlife beliefs, such as: firstly, believing there has a life after death and soul of the deceased is everlasting; secondly, believing dream is the medium which connects the other world of the deceased and the living world of their families; thirdly, believing there has a continuing relationship between the deceased and their families, and gradually transforming to ancestor worship. Finally, this article indicated that professional helpers who work with bereaved persons need to respect clients’ personal perceptions about their dreams of the deceased and adopt useful techniques of dream work, in order to help bereaved persons in more creative ways during their bereavement.
