1899年後的五年時間,「革命」一詞在梁啟超的著作中頻繁出現,「詩界革命」、「文界革命」、「小說革命」等創造性用詞也經見於梁氏演講中。雖然1904年後,梁啟超的政治熱忱已然轉向,但「革命」一詞卻早已滲入中國社會各階層。本文主要討論梁氏小說《新中國未來記》,並著力於梁啟超在此一時期對「革命」理念的關注。首先嘗試檢視梁氏展開其革命話語的路徑,探討他將小說視為宣傳革命最有力工具的緣由。他認為小說與革命同等重要,政治想像與政治行動往往相互為用。其次細讀《新中國未來記》文本,聚焦於「革命」、「未來」兩個重要的關鍵詞。觀察梁啟超如何在一種「未來完成式」敘述中,啟動關於革命的種種理念及敘事策略。再者,在當代中國語境下重讀梁氏的革命方案,論述這部一個多世紀前的小說,在小說與革命的辯證關係上,對今天讀者的啟迪意義。最後以陳冠中小說《盛世》為本,審視後社會主義視角下的《新中國未來記》面貌。
In the five years after 1899, "revolution" frequently appeared in Liang Ch'i-ch'ao's works. Expressions like "revolution in poetry", "revolution in literature" and "revolution in novels" were creatively used in Liang's speeches. Though Liang's political passion was shifted to other subjects after 1904, the word "revolution" had been known to every class in China. This paper focuses on Liang's novel New "China in the Future" and his attention on the concept of "revolution". It first studies Liang's method in developing his revolutionary discourse and the reason for his choosing novel as the most powerful tool to publicize revolution. Liang considered novel and revolution equally important engagements, while regarding political imagination and political actions as mutually implicated. Secondly, it looks into the text of New "China in the Future", focusing on two key words-"revolution" and "future". Thirdly, it rereads Liang's revolutionary novel in the context of contemporary China and argues for revealing power of fiction where historical accounts and testimonial voices are muted. Finally, taking Chen Guan-chung's novel "The Fat Yeas" as a point of reference, it investigates the political relevance of New China in the Future in the perspective of post-socialism.
