Hu Shih was a leader of modern vernacular Chinese movement. This paper starts on how the May Fourth Movement of 1919 deeply affected the Chinese traditional culture. After listing former academic studies' opinions about Hu Shih, the author tried to identify the inheritance obstacles from Confucianism and Taoism to the vernacular Chinese, and "Min-Shih-Zhi-Huo (名實之惑)" in the Spring and Autumn and Warring States Period, also with the gap between the vernacular Chinese and ancient culture in China. By deeply studying The Development of the Logical Method in Ancient China (《中國古代哲學史》) to find Hu Shih's thought, the author uncovered Hu Shih's deviations of scientific academic research way, then, rectified Hu Shih's bias towards Tao De Ching (《道德經》). Finally, basing on the Chinese culture, the author summarized his ideas and his research results.
