This paper interprets Jin Ping Mei from the perspective of fate focusing on its narrations of time and fate. First, I will emphasize how the author of Jin Ping Mei used the idea of time to express his concern about fate and further expressed his idea of the relationship between humans and fate. Second, on deliberation of heaven and human, I will try to express the knowing-fate zhiming consciousness and human ideals that the book shows. Third, I will interpret the book from a self-cultivation perspective. By the above three different perspectives, I hope to bring new light to criticism of Jin Ping Mei.
