The whole-person education at most universities nowadays tends to focus on general education whose purpose is to inspire students’ minds, help them develop the abilities of thinking and adapting themselves to life in the future. The 21st century is the era of knowledge economy with global economic competition and rapid development of information technology. The abilities of creativity, critical thinking and problem solving are all fundamental abilities for future citizens. For knowledge workers in the future, the abilities of innovation and creativities are the source of competitiveness. As a result, the cultivation of creativity has become an important part in the general education at colleges. Meanwhile, starting a new venture is an activity that not only requires creativity but also brings substantial economic benefits; therefore, it has also recently become a popular topic in the field of management. In response to such trend, the researcher of this study has been promoting Entrepreneurship Education in general education courses in addition to department-level courses. By analyzing the contents of general education and Entrepreneurship Education both in Taiwan and in other countries, the researcher attempts to develop curriculum design of Entrepreneurship Education that corresponds to the goals of general education. The core of this curriculum design is “learning by objective-oriented practice,” using the teaching model that combines reality (classes in classroom) and virtuality (classes on the Web-based platform). The course content covers lectures on creativity and fundamentals of entrepreneurship management, experience sharing of different cases, visits to cases of new ventures, supplementary courses, and guidance from the industry and entrepreneurship competition, providing students with all the fundamental knowledge for starting new ventures. Meanwhile, the concept of “milestones” is also used to gradually guide students to the entrepreneurship competition at the end of the semester. This study focuses on the case study of “New Venture Management of Micro-Firms” program at Sun Yat-sen University, exploring its concepts of curriculum design and implementation and, through this case study, manifesting the preliminary results of the curriculum design model of Entrepreneurship Education developed by the researcher.
