The history of Sung, Yiwenzhi (Literary Annals) indicates that the works of Chunqiu (Spring and Autumn Annals) ranks No. 1 in various Chinese scriptures, however, Zhu Xi has no work that dedicated to the interpretation of Chunqiu, and seldom mentions in his corpuses neither. Most scholars believe the main reason for Zhu Xi does not care for Chunqiu is that he focuses on the Neo-Confucianism thought tthat emphasizes internal saintliness. However, the final goal of internal saintliness is external kingliness. It is not true that Zhu Xi does not concern about external kingliness, from his creation intention of imitating Chunqiu to write the Zi Zhi Tongjian Gangmu (Summary of the Comprehensive Mirror for Aid in government), we can note that he cares for Chunqiu. It is just because people have got priority in studies. "External kingliness comes after internal saintliness" is the consistent position of Zhu Xi. Hence when we are exploring Zhu Xi's thoughts on Chinese scriptures, we could not say Zhu Xi neglect Chunqiu just because he has no works dedicated to the interpretation of Chunqiu. On the contrary, we should study Zhu Xi's political thoughts and understand his priority of studies from the records of literary annals and quotations. This study aims at exploring Zhu Xi's attitudes towards Chunqiu and his viewpoints in interpreting Chunqiu, and expects to have thorough interpretation of Zhu Xi's manner in studying Chinese scriptures.
