The purpose of this research is to explore the caring quality of the alien nursing workers and the subjective feeling from the aging recipients. Three research questions have been developed: 1) How do the alien nursing workers trained and carry out their jobs? 2) What are the relationships among the alien nursing workers, nurses and the aged? and 3) How do the aged feel about the alien nursing workers in terms of caring attitude, body cleaning, daily activity assistance and respect. Qualitative analysis is employed and seven nursing homes in Taipei had been observed during May-December 1996. Recommendations have been made in terms of rethinking the adequacy of introducing the alien nursing workers policy, the supervision systems in nursing homes and government and the management strategies for the NPO nursing homes.
