語言文字是進入過去世界重要的媒介，然其往往隨時空變易而發展、變化，使用者亦各有其情境，非為恆常穩固的存在。因此，本文嘗試自語文的使用習慣、思維發問，分析宋人語文脈絡中與「移動」相關的語彙。如此取徑的目的有二：（一）試圖釐清宋代關於「移動」/「旅行」活動語彙的指涉、意涵；（二）立基於前者，進一步了解支持這些語彙使用、操作的社會樣態、文化情境。
「類書」為承載傳統中國收集、整理知識與常識的具體型態。類書的編纂、出版於宋代值得注目的發展，正提供了宋人認識人世事物的知識結構。藉著解析類書中蘊含的宋人知識結構以及「移動」/「旅行」在此結構中被安排的位置，並且究明此結構中「移動」/「旅行」相關單元間的內在關聯，即得以進入宋代「旅行、移動」與「觀覽、書寫」交織而成的場域。而且也將使隱身於語詞、書籍、旅行觀覽、社會現象背後，宋人的某些心緒思維借光顯影。類書編目架構中的「移動」、類書編纂的日常性、旅行相關語彙，則為本文著手討論和組構的三條路徑。

Language is an important medium for understanding the past. However, since language develops and changes over time, its use in a certain period of time is based on circumstances particular to that time. Language cannot be eternally unchanging. Therefore, this paper attempts to analyze terms related to “movement”as used in the Song dynasty language context. The purpose of this approach is twofold: first, to attempt to understand the meaning behind and implications of the terms“movement”and“travel”as they were used in the Song dynasty. Second, to understand what sort of society, cultural circumstances and trends would produce the use and work of such words.
Chinese encyclopedias(leishu) contain a collection of Chinese tradition and knowledge (both learned and common), making their compilation and publication worth taking note of, as they provide insight into the way people viewed the world. An examination of the various categorical entries and their order in Song encyclopedias reveals that change and interaction in personal relationship resulting from movement is the main principle on which the categorical entries are arranged. That is, these works are based on peoples’ understanding and concern for travel at the time. In addition, this can account for the reason why many such works were so common but were different in type and purpose (both in compilation and reading) during the Song dynasty. A look at terms related to travel—such as“xinglu 行旅”,“jilu 羈旅”,“youlan 遊覽”, and“guanguang 觀光”—reveals even more concerning the views of the time.
This paper attempts to grasp the realm created by the interaction of traveling/ movement with Song dynasty writing and sightseeing by analyzing the structure of these encyclopedias, the placement of“movement”/“travel” within this structure, and connections between those works and the categories related to“movement”and“travel”in these encyclopedias. It is hoped that the mindset and thoughts of people from that era hidden in words, books, activities, and social phenomena can be revealed through this study.
