本研究運用一九九一年以及二ＯＯ一年兩次對於台灣地區大學生所進行政治社會化的自填式問卷調查研究資料，比較過去十年台灣地區大學生在幾個重要政治態度以及傾向上的差異。 研究結果發現：在兩個有關人格測量的變項上，也就是反威權傾向以及個人現代性傾向上，十年之間出現了上升的趨勢，不過，大學生個人現代化的變化並沒有達到統計上（雙尾檢定）的顯著程度。然而，過去較高的政治信任感、外在政治功效意識與內在政治功效意識，卻出現了顯著下降的趨勢。至於大學生對於民進黨與國民黨的好惡而言，則從一九九一年的接近三成六的比例對國民黨有好感，滑落到二ＯＯ一年的僅有不及六個百分點，幅度之大，非常值得注意。而對民進黨的正面評價，則從一九九一年的十個百分點，上升至二ＯＯ一年的接近四分之一。另一個值得注意的趨勢是，在一九九一年，有將近三成的大學生對國民黨有負面印象，但是到了二ＯＯ一年，則上升到四成一。而民進黨則在過去十年中，大幅改變其形象，使得在一九九一年有超過七成的大學生給其負面的評價，到了二ＯＯ一年，則僅剩兩成五的比例。 而就影響大學生對於我國民主政治運作評價的因素而言，本研究發現：大學生的反威權傾向、政治信任感、外在政治功效意識以及對執政黨的好惡，與其對民主政治的評價之間，有顯著的正相關。而個人現代性愈強者，對於台灣民主政治的評價愈差。
In this study, we employ two cross-sectional survey data sets to explore the change and continuity of political orientations among university students in Taiwan. We demonstrated that the distribution of anti-authoritarianism attitudes among university students increased significantly between 1991 and 2001, and we also showed that modernity values among university students increased slightly. However, levels of political trust, external political efficacy, and internal efficacy among university students decreased significantly between 1991 and 2001. Among university students, the proportion had positive attitudes toward the KMT was around 36% in 1991, but the proportion decreased to less than 6% in 2001. As to their positive attitude toward the DPP, the proportion was around 10% in 1991, but it increased to over 25% in 2001. Another important finding was that the proportion among university students with negative attitude toward the KMT was around 30% in 1991, but it increased to over 40% in 2001. More than 70% of university students disliked the DPP in 1991, but the proportion decreased to 25% in 2001. We also demonstrated that students’ anti-authoritarian attitudes, political trust, external efficacy, and evaluation of the ruling party had positive correlation with their evaluation on Taiwan’s democratic performance. However, students with higher level of modernity values were less likely to give positive evaluation toward Taiwan’s democratic performance.
