The Period of Communist Rebellion lasted for forty-three years. However, the Temporary Provisions Effective During the Period of Communist Rebellion had accumulated innumerable institutional conventions and operational experiences for Taiwan's current constitutional development. The constitutional culture based on the Temporary Provisions has rooted influences upon the constitutional reform during the 1990's. This essay does not mainly focus on the history of the constitutional change during the Period of Communist Rebellion. It also analyses the historical-institutional legacy of the Temporary Provisions left for Taiwan's constitutional reform and democratization. The essay would be helpful in understanding the phenomenon of Taiwan's current constitutional operation.
