《紅樓夢》中最吸引讀者的莫過於賈寶玉、林黛玉、薛寶釵三人的愛情悲劇，然而此書並非一部單純描寫三角戀愛的才子佳人小說，除了異性戀之外，更有十幾個人物涉及「同性之愛」，其各自產生原因為何呢？並且，曹雪芹所敘寫的「藕官焚紙」情節是唯一明顯且在大觀園內發生的同性戀事件，似乎有意暗示女同性戀是最崇高的戀愛，究竟作者本意為何，這亦是文中要探討的重點之一。本文研究主題是「同性之愛」，自然涉及性別問題，然而文中用「自戀」和藝術家的追求等不同觀點來進一步闡述作者敘寫的深層意涵，試圖讓《紅樓夢》中的同性愛戀產生更新穎的看法與詮釋。
