如何有效推展與落實品德教育是當前教育當局與廣大社會所重視 之課題,然而,目前國內的做法主要透過要求學校教育進行品格與道 德之涵養,較少從社會、文化脈絡、家長與教師立場思考如何培養良 好品格,研究者借鏡英國伯明罕大學等研究中心,近年來重視學校家 長、學生與教師觀點,探究該國品格與價值教育之作法與研究發現, 據此提供我國進行品德教育研究與實踐之參考。對於我國的品德教育 政策與研究提出以下四點啟示:研訂關注學童福祉與品德教育相關的 報告書、成立品德教育研究中心進行相關研究與推廣教學實務、強調 以臺灣華人文化為核心的品德教育研究、側重以臺灣學童觀點為主體 的品德教育研究。
How to develop and implement character education is a very important issue to Taiwan. The current policy relies more on schooling and less on family and society to cultivate character education. This paper is objecting to such view, arguing for more consideration from social, cultural contexts and parents’ views. I take the British character education with the “Jubilee Center for Character and Values” of the University of Birmingham as the object of this study. The Center has promoted character education by seriously taking the views of parents, students, teachers and culture. Drawn from this study, four implications are suggested for the future policies and researches of character and moral education in Taiwan: (1) policies on character education should focus on the wellbeing of children, (2) the need of research centers on the practical execution of character teaching, (3) more emphasis on Chinese culture in character education, and (4) the need of research in children as subject.
