越南外籍配偶來台後總有些生活適應上的困難，是個人精神生活的宗教便變成特別重要，而宗教在許多人的適應困難上一直是個保護因子，本研究目的是在指出精神生活的宗教在越南外籍配偶身上，如何幫助她們適應生活上的困難。透過對六位在越南世代為天主教家庭的外籍配偶的深度訪談，本研究企圖了解個人信仰（對神及大社區）的脈絡下的生命故事。本研究發現別人的見證與信仰故事並沒有影響這些新移民，而是自己的經驗（相信神、相信生命有目的，並真實的對個人的內在自我）幫助了自己。而研究亦發現了兩個因子，幫助了新移民們有效的適應了生活上的困境：1. 是天主教的宗教價值觀，如：較易寬恕別人、不可自殺、不可離婚、忍耐困境、服從天主的旨意及安排及愛與幫助別人。2. 從事天主教的宗教行為，如：上教堂、對天主祈禱、頌念聖經、玫瑰經等。這些新移民對宗教的認知而言，她們知道宗教是個保護因子，但同時也覺得是個束縛，因她們不能如外教人一樣為所欲為，自由的做自己想做的事。但一般而言，結論是宗教對她們的生活適應絕對有正向的影響。
There are some difficulties of life adjustment for the Vietnamese foreign spouses after they come to Taiwan. Religion, as one's spiritual life, has become especially important for them. Religion has always played as a protective factor in many people's life adjustment. The purpose of this research is to point out how religion has helped these foreign spouses' adjustment to their difficulties in life. Through the in-depth interviews with six foreign spouses who came from several generations of Catholic families in Vietnam, this research studied their life stories and attempted to understand their personal faith in the context of God and the bigger community. This study discovered that other people's witness and faith stories did not influence these new immigrants, but one's own experiences (belief in God, belief that life has a purpose, and honesty to face one's own inner self) have helped them. In addition, this study also found two variables which helped these new immigrants adjust effectively with their life difficulties. The first one is the Catholic value, for instance, being forgiving of others, not committing suicide, no to divorce, being patient in difficult situations, obeying God's will, and loving and helping others. The second variable is dealing with Catholic behaviors, for instance, church attendance, praying to God, reading the Bible and reciting the Rosary. As to the cognitive understanding of religion for these new immigrants, they know that religion is a protective factor, but at the same time, they feel it is a constraint. The reason is that they cannot do things freely as others want to do and they cannot act like a non-believer. In general, they concluded that religion has a positive effect on their life adjustment.
