Cheng Minzheng (1445–1499) was a famous and erudite scholar in the Hanlin yuan (Hanlin Academy) during the Chenghua and Hongzhi periods. He made great achievements in literature, Neo-Confucianism, lineage, and state ceremony. However, it is difficult to find biographies and historical materials of him. Even the Mingshi (Ming History) recorded the bare skeleton only. With such a situation scholars cannot understand this eminent figure in detail.
