雖然國內諮商界很早就注意到男性的諮商求助行為特性，卻鮮少有對此議題的相關研究與論述，因此本文引入國外的理論－性別角色理論，藉由介紹理論流變與內涵、整理國內外男性諮商求助行為的研究發現、並提供未來可研究的方向，希望可引發更多對此議題的關注與研究，刺激未來研究者思考相關研究方向，以及提供實務工作者理解男性諮商求助行為的理論架構，以提供更符合男性需求的宣導及諮商服務。
